So we got our stove... The MSR Whisperlite and a fuell bottle. Thanks to Richard's parents!
And I now have my own beautifully fitting backpack. Thank goodness for Christmas money (my Granddad)!
It came down to the Lowe Alpine Sirrocio and the Arc'teryx Bora 75. They both fit really well, but with additional weight the Arc'terx won because of the hip-belt. Additionally when we brought it home and I filled it with my gear it worked even better (a good tip if you are looking for backpacks is to try it with your own stuff).
It was a lot like finding the right shoes and but a little more fun.
So now we need:

Getting our Gear on

Last year we purchased a new tent...
The purpose was to fufill our need to car camp, but find something to pack with us....
So we bought the MSR Mutha Hubba... it has worked out well for both. It is large enough not to feel like sardines, has two good sized vestibules, and we can easilypack it beteween us... (it was described as "bombproof" so we figure we can enjoy it for years to come.
We also bought a water filter.. the MSR Sweetwater... (can you sense a theme coming on).
Our goals for this year include:
2 backpacks
stove
fuel bottles
pots
Flashback to 2006
Hi all!
Welcome to our blog.
2006 started a new year of adventure for Richard and I. We have always enjoyed heading to the mountains to hike, but this year we added backcountry camping to our trips. Richard still had his backpack from his teen years in the Scouts, and I borrowed Richard's dad's pack (hmmm maybe not the best idea).
Anyway we did one trip with friends of ours... Fortress Lake trial. And I got to experience part of the Beautiful Iceline Trail in Yoho National Park.
